On Thursday, Iran expressed its willingness to become a part of the multi-billion-dollar project—the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The development occurred during a meeting of the Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan—Mehdi Honardoost with the members of the Pak-Iran Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The ambassador on the occasion said that they believe that CPEC is significant and a huge project which could greatly impact peace and cooperation among nations in the region. He added that Iran is an important nation in the region with great potential and capabilities like the transit line and all other resources that it possesses.
He went on to say that may be without the support of Iran in energy and transit, the multi-billion-dollar project would not reach its final stage.

Honardoost said that they are ready to be a part of CPEC with all their resources and capabilities.
He redefined his trust in Pakistani forces for taking decisive actions against the terrorists hiding in the Pak-Iran bordering towns.
Regarding the Saudi Arabia’s plan to invest near the Iran border, the ambassador said that regional cooperation is one of the best ways to deal with poverty and other regional issues and they are positive that one day cooperation and interaction among all the nations would come to one point.
During the meeting, the Pak-Iran trade activities were discussed and the QCCI and Pak-Iran Chamber of Commerce were informed about the problems at the Taftan border.
While giving complete assurance of support and cooperation to Pakistan, Honardoost said that owing to the American sanctions, Pak-Iran trade would take some time to strengthen, but the government of Iran is all willing to boost the bilateral trade with Pakistan up to $5billion.
