The federal cabinet gives green signal to place names of 600 people on the Exit Control List (ECL) and removal of 235 others from the list on Friday.
The development by federal cabinet was made under the decision which was taken on March 16 in which it was decided that the federal cabinet would decide to place people on the ECL instead of the interior secretary or a committee of the interior ministry.

However, the names and identity of the people which were removed and placed on the ECL were not disclosed with the media. The cabinet has also decided to establish a sub-committee of the cabinet headed by the Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal to look into the matters related to the Exit Control List (ECL).
According to the interior minister, the former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar used to maintain the Exit Control List (ECL) through a committee, which opposes the decisions issued by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Mr. Nisar said earlier while addressing the National Assembly that the interior ministry had specific criteria to put the names on ECL or remove from the list. He also added that during his tenure, the ECL issue was de-centralized and a committee was established under the chairmanship of an additional secretary to put names on ECL.
