Students of Information Technology University (ITU) Lahore successfully displayed their 100 robots on the 6 Robotics Expo; Machines of the Future, held in Lahore. These robots are ready to do any chore, reducing the workload of a man and making them more utilizable on important tasks.
Dr. Umar Saif, who is the VC of ITU and also VC and Chairman of Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), was also present at the time. Yuriy Fedkiw General Consular of the US Consulate Lahore was also there at the 6 Robotic Expo. Both the VC of ITU and US Consular were quite impressed by the efforts made by the young talent.
Of the 100, only 15 robots made to the expo. One of the most appreciated machines was a work of a 12-year old geek, Muhammad Raza. REKHTA is an Urdu word prediction catalog and adds value by providing a transliteration of the word.
Another unique robot was ROSS. Ross is robot receptionist or ROBOCEPTIONIST. This robot is already working at the prime location of ideas generation i.e. Arfa Software Technology Park, Lahore. This robot is good enough to talk, throw jokes, and guide people coming in at the Arfa Software Technology Park.
Then comes PAYAM. This robot is developed to inform rescue services in cases of a car accident. This machine also informs contacts saved in its memory.
Other valuable invention displayed at the 6 Robotic Expo included:
- Saliré – An assistant moving small items.
- Vizo – Project a video when attached with an eyeglass.
- Rahbar – Provides real-time info about the estimated time of arrival of public transports and do more.
With an aim to serve the nation, the students of Information Technology University (ITU) Lahore are working day and night. Talha Rehmani the guy leading the robotics program was extremely proud of the efforts of the students and shared his high hopes from the students in the near future.
