In the latest move, Indonesia has taken the decision to wake up Muslims for Sehri using fighter jets in the holy month of Ramazan.

The announcement of using fighter jets for waking people up was made on the official Twitter account of the Indonesian Air Force.

The tweet, when translated in English, reads that if God wills, they would be conducting the tradition of waking people up for Suhur by making use of the fighter aircraft.

It is an old Indonesian tradition to wake people for the Sehri meal using loud drum beating and horn blowing. Young men and groups of children scream and bang on the drums for waking up the sleeping residents of cities for Sehri—the pre-dawn meal.

Low flying aircraft with air burners would be producing noise over the significant cities of Indonesia, which includes Surakarta, Yogyakarta, Surabaya in East Java, Klaten and Sragen in Central Java.

As per the explanation provided by the official spokesman of the air force the fighter pilots are not permitted to fly during the fasting hours owing to low blood sugar levels.

Pre-dawn exercises could help in tackling this limitation and lets the air force contribute to living on with the national tradition.

The Indonesian Air Force has got quite a few SU27, T50, F-16 and SU30 trainer air jets.

It is pertinent to mention that Indonesia is the largest Muslim nation with a population of nearly 267million with more than 80percent of the population practising Islam.
