Indian Man with World’s Longest Fingernails is Cutting them after 66 years – Video


Shridhar Chillal an Indian man has the world’s longest fingernails that he has not cut for the past 66 years. At the age of 82 Chillal finally decided to cut his fingernails and he did it. The nails took years to grew were lost in a couple of minutes.

Chillal holds a Guinness World Record for having the biggest fingernails in the world. On his left hand, he never cut his nails since 1952.

In a “nail clipping ceremony” in Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum in Times Square NewYork Chillal has finally cut them. The nails were approx. 909.6 centimeters in length. The longest nail by his thumbnail, 197.8 centimeters long. In 2016 he made it to the Guinness Book of World Record for having ‘Longest Fingernails on a Single Hand Ever’.

Chillal was growing his nails on his left hand since the age of 14. He was inspired to do it when he accidentally broke a long nail of his teacher and the teacher told him that he would not understand the importance of a long nail unless he himself had them. He took it to so much heart that he started keeping them and made a record.

It is not easy to keep long nails as Chillal said, “I can’t move much, so every half an hour or so I wake up and move my hand to the other side of the bed.”

But the good part of it in Chillal’s words is  “I never have to wait in a queue.” Well, now it seems he will have to, as he has lost his nails that he grew for decades.
