India considering to Breach Water Accord with Pakistan

The Indian government is looking to breach the Indus Water Treaty (IWT) with Pakistan, following the abrogation of Article 370. It is paving the way to construct dams on the water flowing into Pakistan.

The Indian diplomats have started to lobby compatible UN members. For this, Delhi is circulating a draft that states that it needs to work on different options that include the construction of new dams in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK). The reason given is that it wants to counter the environmental impacts of climate change that include fog in its neighboring countries.

It has been reported that India is trying to cleverly push this narrative that as IOK is now a Union territory thus it has the right to use its water rivers flowing into Pakistan even though as per Indus Water Accord made with Pakistan it has no right to do it.

Furthermore, Indian lobbyists are trying to engage democratic and republican congressmen to predict any possible negative reaction once the draft is made public. Currently, there are many democrat congressmen and a few Republicans who are extremely critical of human rights violations in IOK by India.

“In the aftermath of abrogating Article 370 of IOK, it will be argued that since it is India’s internal issue to utilize water flowing from IOK, Delhi is under no obligation to respect IWT.”

Through an informal draft, the Indian diplomats are trying to quietly lobby UN members which can have serious consequences for Pakistan. India has shifted its technique from conventional warfare to mental manipulation for which Pakistan needs to be prepared.
