Where the government is contemplating to further ease the lockdown restrictions, the nationwide count of coronavirus cases has seen a surge over the span of the past few days.
As per the health department of Punjab, a total of 1,533 cases of the COVID-19 were reported in the province in the initial 9 days of Ramazan. Of these cases, 526, were recorded in the first 5 days of the month, while the cases double in the last 4 days.
Professor Javed Akram, the VC of the University of Health and Sciences (UHS) has expressed his apprehension that the country might see a record rise in coronavirus cases in the coming days.
He said that the count of local transmission cases has surged amid the government’s decision to ease lockdown limitations, as 80 percent of the total reported cases are locally transmitted.
The professor further said that a complete family has fallen victim to the novel virus owing to a rise in the locally transmitted cases. He asked the government to allow people who are affected by coronavirus to keep themselves isolated in their houses in order to help them get over their fear.
It is pertinent to mention here that the WHO has predicted earlier that the COVID-19 count in Pakistan could rise to 200,000 in the nation.
