The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has imported a surplus amount of sugar that would be offered to the consumers at Rs.87.50 per kilogram, as per the Food Department of KP.
According to the shared details, an official of the Food Department said that the imported sugar has reached the different divisions of the province and would be available for people to buy at cheaper rates.
The official said that the imported sugar would be sold at the Sasta Bazaars that have been established by the District Administration in the different districts of the province and the general stores at the cost of Rs.87.50 per kilogram.
He further mentioned that the sugar imported from abroad has reached the port of Karachi under the guidance of the Industries Department, and also said that its transportation to the various parts of the province is in full bloom. He also mentioned that its sale and purchase have also started in the different cities which include Malakand, Dera Ismail Khan, and Hazara divisions.
The official also said that the provincial government has appointed the dealers with the assistance of the deputy commissioners whereas the process would be looked after and monitored by the deputy commissioners and the other staff members.
It is anticipated that the crushing season of the sugarcane is to commence soon and would further be reducing the sugar prices.
