IMF Director Expected to Visit Pakistan This Week; Ministry of Finance

Jihad Azour—the IMF Middle East and Central Asia Director would be visiting Pakistan this week, as per the details shared by the officials on Tuesday.

As per the officials of the Ministry of Finance, Azour would be in Pakistan from the 16th of September to the 20th of September. They also informed that the IMF director would be given a briefing on the current economic situation of the country.

The IMF has given $1 billion to Pakistan earlier in July after approval of the $6 billion bailout package for Pakistan by its board. It is a 3-year loan programme.

The International Monetary Fund would be reviewing the performance of Pakistan quarterly over a span of 39 months, phasing release of the extra aid over time.

While reviewing the Clean Karachi Campaign, PM Khan said that the future of Pakistan is linked with the future of Karachi.

Karachi is the economic hub of the country and is super significant for the country’s economy.
