UAE government has announced the visa amnesty scheme. All the Pakistanis who are living illegally in UAE are urged to avail this scheme.
Under the ‘Protect Yourself via Rectifying Your Status,’ Pakistanis and other foreigners who are violating the residency law will be given a three-month grace period to either leave of UAE without facing any charges or pay required fees to acquire a legal status.
Pakistani Embassy in Abu Dhabi and Consulate in Dubai has sent a notice out to the people that all Pakistanis can make use of the visa of amnesty scheme. The scheme starts on August 1st and ends in October.
The notice said, “All those who do not have travel documents (passports) should contact the embassy or consulate.”
Furthermore, Pakistani emigrants are asked to contact the welfare departments to get more information regarding this scheme.
A welfare officer said, “We will offer all the guidance we can once people come to us here.”
As per the officer that are times when individuals seeking help go to the immigration without contacting the embassy first. It can complicate the situation, thus to understand the scheme better it is important that the seekers visit welfare sections first.
The benefit of this scheme is that the foreigners who have over-stayed will have a way out, those who are facing heavy fines will relax, and the illegal expats will have a chance to convert their status into legal. On October 31st this scheme will expire.
Previously in 1996, 2003, 2007 and 2013, the UAE government launched visa amnesty scheme. Many foreigners have benefited through this scheme. We must inform our readers that at least 1.2 million Pakistanis live in the UAE, many of whom have illegal status.
