IHC Orders Release of Prisoners Imprisoned for Petty Crimes

It has been ordered by the Islamabad High Court that all prisoners imprisoned for petty crimes at Adiala Jail should be immediately released after submitting sureties.

It has been directed by the deputy commissioner to appoint an officer to handle the sureties. The court has given the order that if a prisoner is not able to submit the surety money, the government will have to pay it.

This is an emergency situation and all necessary steps must be taken in it, as per the Chief Justice Athar Minallah. He said it is important to take precautionary steps in the situation.

He has ordered that all prisoners at the police stations must submit their sureties to the SHOs and be released. As per the chief justice, a written order will be issued regarding the prisoners at the police stations.

In other news, we informed our readers that third death has been reported in Pakistan due to the novel coronavirus. The coronavirus patients in Pakistan have surged to 450. The confirmed cases in Sindh are 245, 81 in Balochistan, 80 in Punjab, 23 in K-P, 21 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 5 in Islamabad and 1 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
