It has been indicated in the latest findings that college girls are more into the consumption of crystal methamphetamine, which is known as Ice drug.
AIG Amir Sheikh—the Karachi Police Chief on Thursday in a media briefing said that addiction of the ice drug is commonly seen amongst the university and college students as it is available at cheap rates that are of Rs700-2,000 per gram.
While telling about the crackdown against drug suppliers to the educational institutions, Sheikh said that more than 300 drug stations have been entirely raided. Most of these drug stations were in the areas of Lyari, Mehmoodabad, Pak Colony, Dalmia, Malir, Lasi Goth, Sher Shah, Shanti Nagar, and Jahanaabad.
Most of these drugs are imported via Hub and Baluchistan to Karachi, as informed by the AIG Sheikh he further added that since the drug is sold in lesser quantities, like in few grams, the meddlers get an easy bailout from courts. He added that the laws need to be changed for which a meeting was conducted with the anti-narcotics department.
He informed that there is solid proof found against the policemen and officials involved in drug marketing. Sheikh gave assurance that such officers would face strict departmental action and might ever lose their jobs if they found guilty.
He also informed that crackdown against beggary in Karachi was also being done in which nearly 3,500 beggars were already taken in custody. He said that they have asked the government to provide a shelter home for beggars so that they could be kept there.
