Huawei launches 5G bearer microware bearer solution for early adoption

Huawei has unveiled its plans of launching 5G microwave bearer solution for telecoms at the Ultra-Broadband Forum (UBBF 2017) in Hangzhou China. The 5G microwave bearer solution could help telecoms to adopt 5G technology quickly, this will enable operators to evolve their networks towards 5G.

The technology is featuring 10 Gbit/s-to-site, flexible O&M and smooth evolution, it supports 5G application scenarios, helping telecom operators manage challenges in 5G bear networks for the future.

5G application scenarios include Ultra-Reliable and Low-latency communication (URLLC), Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB) and Massive Machine Type Communication (mMTC). According to the ITU published report IMT-2020, 5G should support 10 Gbit/s per user, 1 million device connections per square kilometer and 1ms latency. This becomes very complex and challenging in bandwidth, latency, and flexibility of bearer networks.

Data shows that 50 to 60 percent of the global mobile base stations have used microwave backhaul. Hence, 5G transport which uses legacy microwave links is also a focus for global operators.

In order to address 5G bearer requirements, Huawei has launched a sophisticated 5G microwave bearer solution which includes the following:

10 Gnit/s-to-site

Maximum 10GE to the site, 8192QAM modulation, 112/224 MHz channel bandwidth and co-frequency interference. Huawei is the world’s first microwave solution vendor, the company uses unique chip and innovative algorithm in its solution.

Smooth Evolution

It provides career aggregation technology, multiple software upgrades, and hardware deployment.

Flexible O&M

Huawei’s 5G microwave bearer solution has utilized SDN and L3 routing functionality, which exponentially reduces network O&M costs. SDN coordinates backhaul and wireless access networks. In order to reduce power consumption, during off-peak hours, it disconnects idle links by a maximum of about 15%, this also helps to achieve energy conservation and emission control. Additionally, automatic configuration and service provisioning greatly reduce human costs.
