Hike ID Launched – Chat without sharing your phone number now

Hike Messenger has launched Hike ID that allows users to chat and communicate with each other without revealing their phone numbers. Thus privacy is maintained.

Pathik Shah, Vice President, Product at Hike, said “Privacy is at the center of everything we do at Hike. ‘Hike ID’ is the next step for us to make this value proposition even stronger by enabling easier discovery and control while connecting with others.”

Interesting: Telegram is down in Pakistan

Users of Hike ID app just need to have the id of the other person to search them. So unlike the majority of the apps that require you to save a friend’s or colleague’s number to reach out to them on social media apps, for Hike you just require Hike ID of the other user.
The Android users will be able to make their Hike ID and share it by next week as for the iOS uses they would have to wait a bit for its launch.

Hike is looking forward to add new, interesting features and services including booking cabs, buses, trains, moving tickets and even being able to pay bills. These updates will be part of Hike from 2018’s first quarter.

Hike launched in 2012 and now it has almost 100 million users around the globe.

Before Hike ID, this feature of chatting without the need for phone number was present on BBM and Telegram. The apps allowed users to search people through their IDs or special PINs instead of phone numbers. This feature is contrary to WhatsApp system of connecting with people. In WhatsApp, you must have the number of the other person and add the number to your contact list before you can connect with them. So now apps are launching that are making communication easier and simpler than it was ever before.
