A bail petition in the Al-Azizia mills corruption case filed by the former three-time Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif on the medical grounds in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) will be heard today (Wednesday).
According to the details, a division bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) comprising Justice Aamir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani will take up the hearing of the petition.
In the last hearing of the case, an anti-corruption watchdog NAB had submitted its detailed reply in the high court. As per the details, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) request the high court to reject the petition filed by the convicted Nawaz Sharif seeking his release from the prison on the medical grounds.
During the last hearing, NAB had argued that the health condition of the former prime minister is not critical. NAB’s reply further claimed that according to his medical reports, his life is not at risk.
The anti-corruption watchdog further pleaded the court that the request made by the former PM is not maintainable and should be rejected.
The leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif is currently in the Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore. He was sentenced to seven years in the Al Azizia Steel Mills corruption reference filed by the NAB in December.
