Higher Education Commission (HEC) has directed universities to implement policies against sexual harassment. HEC is not happy with the Higher Educational Institutes (HEIs) progress regarding the implementation of policy guidelines against sexual harassment.
A circular has been issued to the public and private sector universities by the HEC’s office of the Executive Director. The universities have been directed to improve the HEC’s guidelines enforcement to change the perspective of the public.

The institutional heads have been urged by the Executive Director HEC, Dr. Fateh M. Marri to ensure the implementation. He has asked them to keep sharing the progress made on implementation.
This includes the date of adoption of HEC policy guidelines and laws, date when it was uploaded on the university website and then circulated on all campuses, date of development of the harassment complaint cell, recruitment of harassment monitoring officer, and creation of the hearing and appellate panels, number of harassment cases reported and resolved thereof, recommendations to improve the effectiveness of the policy.
The chancellors, rectors and university heads have been directed in the circular to submit their responses by 25th October.
