The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has placed a bar on hiring in the KP universities.
As per the reports of local media on Tuesday, the HEC has imposed a bar on the hiring in all the universities of the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa owing to the severe financial crisis.
The education commission issued copies of the notification to all vice-chancellors of the universities which reasoned about the financial crisis.
The notification also mentioned that the administration of the universities would have to get a no-objection certificate from HEC.
Previously in the month of May, the HEC has barred admissions to the programmes of Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the University of Punjab.
The spokesperson for the University of Punjab had said that the decision of placing a ban on admission was taken in view of the lack of numbers of qualified teaching staff. The HEC took the decision to stop admissions after a visit was done at the various faculties.
An order was also issued for stopping admissions at 28 PhD and 33 MPhil programmes. PhD was stopped at the departments of Pakistan Studies, International Relations and Political Science. While MPhil programmes were stopped at History, Mathematics, Arts and Design and Chemistry departments.
