Gwadar Port will formally open and function by the end of next month. On January 29 and 30th 2018, the first international expo will take place in Gwadar. The aim of the expo is to show the potential of Gwadar especially its Special Economic Zone.
Gwadar Port is Pakistan’s deep-sea global port having a draught of around 18 meters where a large spacecraft or a ship can anchor quite easily.
Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo the Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping also informed that in upcoming weeks a tender for the construction of Elevated Expressway will be given. This Expressway is a huge project that will link Keamari, West and East Wharf to Northern Bypass. The project will be functional in a couple of years.
Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry organized a meeting of FPCCI Standing Committee on Ports and Shipping. The meeting was attended by Chinese Overseas Ports Holding Company Chairman and officials from Ministry of Ports and Shipping, and of Karachi Port Trust, Pakistan National Shipping Corporation, Gwadar Port and Gwadar Development Authority.
The Minister of Ports and Shipping summoned the private sector of Pakistan to come forward and operate ferry services in Pakistan and globally as well including Chabahar Port, Dubai, and Qatar.He informed that the government will support help the private sector in starting ferry services but it will not initiate any such project.
He said, “Now, we have a policy for running ferry service. We would do nothing more but give you permission for this service.”
He emphasized the need for local investors to invest in facilitating Gwadar Port, Gwadar City and Special Economic Zone there, and similar CPEC projects in Balochistan.
Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo on the topic of elections said,” I want to send a clear message to everyone that the general elections shall be held on the schedule. Pakistan Army is very much supporting democratic setup. The government shall complete its tenure.”
The Chinese Overseas Ports Holding Company Chairman complimented the efforts of Balochistan government, Pakistan Army, and the civilian populations in magnificently developing the Gwadar Port.
