Gwadar Free Zone First Phase Completed


China Overseas Ports Holding Company Chairman and CEO Zhang Baozhong informed the Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan that his company has completed the Gwadar Free Zone first phase in record time. He said this as the Chief Minister visited the Gwadar Port along with Zubaida Jalal who is currently the Federal Minister for Defence Production.

Mr. Baozhong also enlightened the CM about different ongoing projects in Gwadar including Gwadar airport, desalination and power plants projects. Jam Kamal Khan was also informed that Gwadar Port will be able to handle at least one million containers every year.

The Chief Minister then expressed his views and said that the Gwadar Port under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is the most important asset of Pakistan. Gwadar under CPEC will soon become the hub of international trade and commerce.

On the occasion, different provincial and district administration officials were present along with the provincial ministers Zahoor Baledi, Abdul Rauf Rind, Abdul Rahman Khetran, Noor Muhammad Dummar, Abdul Khaliq Hazara.
The Balochistan CM was optimistic that the present government will use all the available resources to develop the province and the country.

We must also inform our readers that more or less 20 companies have set up their businesses in Gwadar bringing around US$460 million direct investment. This is as per the port’s operator, China Overseas Ports Holding Company (COPHC). There are many people who have migrated from foreign countries and other Pakistani cities to Gwadar. Reason for this growing migration to Gwadar is that people have found investment & job opportunities in Gwadar.
