After shortage of petroleum across the country, the orders have been issued by the Petroleum Division to take legal action against two oil marketing companies.
A committee formed by the PTI-led federal government of Pakistan over the fuel crisis across the company has written a letter recommending punitive action against the two privately owned oil marketing companies over their role in the fuel crisis that has hit hard the country.
In a letter, the Assistant Commissioner Harbour West has been directed by the authorities to take punitive action against the two companies after evidence of the fuel holding proved against the two biggest oil marketing companies.
Competent authorities have been directed to book the Chief Operating Officers (COOs) of the oil marketing companies while documentary evidence has also been provided against the two marketing entities.
According to the details, the members of the government committee have taken the record of these oil companies from Keamari Terminal and the offices. The details further said that the data about the oil stocks of other private oil marketing companies has also been collected by the members of the government committee.
It is pertinent to mention here that apart from state-owned Pakistan State Oil (PSO), 14 private marketing companies also operating in the oil sector.
