PM Khan has made the announcement that the government would be helping the people who earn less than Rs.25,000 a month in buying the essential items.
The decision has been taken during a meeting of the cabinet that searched for ways of offering relief to the low-income people at a time of high inflation.
As per the details, the government would be helping the less-privileged groups in purchasing the essential items like wheat, sugar, pulses, oil and the other basic items.
The cabinet has also taken the decision of allocating a major amount of funds in the upcoming budget for this cause.
PM Khan has said that the government is inclined to offer relief to the poor segment of the society.
PM Khan tweeted that the efforts of the government which includes the subsidy accorded to the Utility Stores Corporation (USC), have led in bringing down the inflation by 2.16 per cent. Inflation in the month of February 2020 was recorded at 12.40 per cent in comparison to 14.56 per cent in January.
Previously in the month of January, PM Khan had officially given approval to a Rs.6 billion subsidy package for USC.
The prices of the essential items like wheat, oil, legumes and rice were reduced significantly after the subsidy package.
The subsidy package for the USC resulted in 800 per cent in sales of the enterprise for January.
