The government is planning to distribute free cows, goats, rickshaws, shops and carts for free to the poor people for combating poverty.
The step has been taken under the Ehsaas programme which is a project for getting rid of poverty in the country.
Dr Sania Nishtar, the head of the BISP and the special assistant of PM on social protection and poverty alleviation, announced this on Tuesday in the federal capital.
She also said that the government would be distributing the assets to the poor for free.
PM Khan would be launching the Ehsaas Asset Scheme on the 21st of February in Punjab.
The initial phase of the programme would be covering 375 of the nation’s underdeveloped union councils. She said that it would be giving benefit to 175,000 families.
She further added that Rs.15 billion would be distributed in the 23 districts. She also explained that Rs.60,000 worth of the assets would be offered per family. Nearly 60 per cent of the women and 30 per cent of the youth would benefit from this programme. The programme would also be offering them training.
People would be chosen on the basis of the poverty survey of the Ehsaas programme. The project includes 10 districts from KP, 3 from Punjab, 7 from the province of Sindh and 3 from Balochistan.
