Imran Khan—the present Prime Minister of Pakistan would be launching a nationwide campaign dubbed as “Clean and Green Pakistan”.
The campaign drive would be started from all major cities throughout the country as part of the policy introduced by the government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for a clean and green country.
The decision for starting a nationwide cleanliness drive was taken in the month of September during a meeting that was led by the Prime Minister on the matters of the Ministry of Climate Change.
Malik Amin Aslam Khan—the Prime Minister’s adviser on climate change previously said that the government would be launching a violent drive for educating people and encouraging them to participate in the “Clean and Green Pakistan” campaign.
The previous month, Imran Khan—Prime Minister launched the “Plant for Pakistan” campaign which was part of the present government’s billion Tree Tsunami 2018 drive.
One of the major issues that the Prime Minister Imran’s government is focusing on is to improve the climate changes via taking initiatives like tree plantation.
The nation-wide tree plantation campaign came following the PTI-led provincial government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa conducted a large-scale tree planting project during its earlier tenure.
As per the experts, Pakistan is facing huge environmental challenges.
According to a survey conducted by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute before the elections of 2018 found that respondents prioritised three major environmental issues—air pollution, water shortages and increasing temperatures.
