Govt. to Import 120 Electric Buses This Year; Says Fawad Chaudhry

Fawad Chaudhry, the federal minister for science and technology has promised to make the federal capital the first city of Pakistan where the transport would be completely electric.

While he was addressing a press conference in Islamabad, the minister said that the federal government would be importing 120 electric buses this year and the local assembling of the battery-powered buses would commence in 2020.

Fawad Chaudhry said that the electric buses would operate in the country this year as the government is all inclined on importing 120 buses. He also said that the local manufacturing of the buses would start in the span of 3 years’ time.

The minister of Science and Technology said that the government was focusing on the electric automobiles as it would be revolutionizing the transportation sector. He further said that the high technology farms would be built in the nation for promoting the production of unconventional crops.

Back in August, Fawad Chaudhry made the announcement that the battery-powered electric buses would run in Pakistan from this year.

He informed this after the inking ceremony of a strategic alliance between Skywell Automobile, which is a Chinese firm, and the Daewoo Pakistan Express Bus Service Limited of establishing an Electric Vehicle value chain in Pakistan.
