A three-day Asia Regional Conference on Climate Change was inaugurated by Prime Minister Imran Khan. It was revealed in the conference that the government wants to construct vertical buildings in cities.
While addressing the 7th Asian Regional Conservative Forum of International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), PM Khan said that the protection of Pakistan’s environment is the top priority of the government.
Prime Minister Khan said, “Pakistan has twelve ecological zones from desert to Himalayan forests which are rare in the world,” however, the population growth and less interest in protection of the environment has negatively affected wildlife and forests.
Following the success of the Billion Tree Tsunami Project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the PTI government will launch tree plantation drive in Pakistan.
Also, PM said that the protection of the environment will be made part of the syllabus in Pakistan.
PM Khan informed about yet another campaign under which vertical buildings will be built in cities. He said it is important for town planners to be conscious about the protection of the environment.
IUCN President Zhang Xinsheng appreciated the government for launching the 10 billion tree tsunami project. He appreciated the passion of the Prime Minister in trying to address the issue of climate change.
