The federal cabinet has taken the decision of awarding 50,000 scholarships to the students of the needy families in the span of the next 4 years.
This was mentioned by the Special Assistant to PM on Information and Broadcasting—Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan after the meeting.
She said that 120 universities would get the benefit from this programme which could be availed by the families which were earning less than Rs.45,000 per month.
2% of quota has been specified for the disabled and minorities, she further added.
Dr Firdous said that the federal cabinet has given a green signal for the construction of Rs.510 billion Dasu Dam after the approval of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council—ECNE and work on it would be started from next month.
While addressing a press conference for sharing details of the decision taken during the meeting, she said that construction of Dasu Dam was deferred since it was previously planned to be launched in 2014 with projection completion in 2019.
Unfortunately, the project to be funded by the World Bank, could not be started owing to the various hurdles.
She also said that the cabinet discussed the laws regarding investment and people-friendly policies.
She also informed the cabinet has approved the re-organization of the Board of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited.
Dr. Awan also said that the PM reiterated his resolve that Evacuee Property Trust Board—EPTB land would be used for the construction of educational institutes and hospitals. The members of the EPTB board were approved.
The cabinet also approved of the agreements with Russia, as per Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan.
