Manzoor Hussain, Additional Secretary, Department of Industry and Commerce, Government of Pakistan, has said that the provincial government has formulated rules for allotment of land in industrial zones in Balochistan and land records are being fully computerized.
Following these measures, the land will now be allotted in industrial zones only to those industrialists who will invest in the fixed period. MD Jida Ata Ajogezai said that the provincial government would soon allocate 20,000 acres of land for the Special Economic Zone in Gwadar.
He expressed these views while talking to reporters after a function held in honour of the business community under the Gwadar Industrial Estate Development Authority. Additional Secretary Industry Manzoor Hussain said that there were some problems in allotment of land in an industrial zone in Gwadar. Chief Minister Jam Kamal has taken special steps to address them. Laws have now been framed for the acquisition of land. He said that work on development projects in Gwadar is underway under CPEC. Managing Director Jida Ata Jogezai said that 3,000 acres of land have been allocated for setting up of industry in Gwadar.
Gwadar is an attractive port city for investment. Gwadar has vast investment opportunities in fisheries, cement and other sectors. Gwadar Industrial Estate Development Authority (GIEDA) has also launched a one-stop-shop for investors. Mahmood Ahmad Khan, a senior executive of Gwadar Business Club, said that there are huge opportunities for real estate investment in Gwadar. Awareness campaigns are being run for the business community to invest in Gwadar. Earlier in the introductory ceremony, GIEDA officials briefed the business community about the facilities provided by the Balochistan government in Gwadar.
