Govt Sindh Opens “Pension Centres” for Facilitating Pensioners

A huge number of elderly pensioners have to experience many ordeals if they want to receive their monthly pension on a regular basis. Ghufran Memon—the Sindh Accountant General admitted that the menace of agent mafia is ruining the pensioners and added that the provincial government has started measures for addressing the issue.

While speaking to the media at the opening ceremony of Sindh Pension Centre in Matiari district on Monday, the Accountant General of Sindh said that the centers are being set up in all the districts of Sindh for ensuring that monthly pensions release is made hassle-free. He added that for getting rid of the agent mafia, they are making the process of pensions receiving easier.

As per him, the centers are being opened in the district treasury offices in the entire province. So far, the centers have begun its functioning in Tando Allahyar, Jamshoro, Tando Muhammad Khan and Karachi districts.

Memon said that over the next week 4 new centres would become functional in as many districts. He claimed that the centres would resolve problems delaying the release of pension of a retired person in 45 to 60 minutes.

There are nearly 240,000 pensioners of the Sindh provincial government and among them the pension account for some 150,000 have been transferred to the online system.

Memon was hopeful that the online accounts of another 75,000 pensions would be inaugurated by June 2019.

He said that as the Sindh AG, he wishes that a pensioner gets the pay cheque a day post their retirement.
