The Minister for Climate Change Zartaj Gul Wazir revealed that the federal government of Pakistan has decided to shut down Monal restaurant, a scenic restaurant in the heart of the Margalla Hills National Park, Islamabad.
According to the details shared by the federal minister, the country’s environmental laws disallow the construction and business activities in the national parks of the country.
During an interview with a Pakistani media outlet, the federal minister revealed this development adding that the PTI-led government of Pakistan will not only oppose the construction in the national parks but will also bulldoze the existing infrastructure to restore their natural beauty.
Gul further added that the businesses established in the national parks are earning in millions but are not directing enough funds under Corporate Social Responsibility agreement for the preservation and restoration of these parks. Instead, these businesses operating in the country’s national parks try to expand illegally whenever they find an opportunity to do so.
It is pertinent to mention here that local administration of the capital city of Islamabad, in the month of May, sealed the Monal restaurant after the management of the eatery has started chopping down the trees from the surrounding areas in an attempt to expand secretly.
