Shafqat Mehmood Federal Minister for Education declared that the government is planning on reopening educational institutions as soon as the COVID-19 pandemic ends.
ARY News reported that the education minister while speaking in the National Assembly said that in the middle of the pandemic, all the schools were provided with an incentive of lowering the school fee by twenty percent.
Also, all the provinces were ordered to execute the decision. Shafqat Mehmood further added that if the parents will not pay the school fee of their children then it would become difficult for the institutions to pay the teachers and the staffers with their monthly salaries.
On Friday (21st August), the education minister Shafqat Mehmood said that the final decision to reopen schools will be taken in the Interprovincial Education Ministers’ conference scheduled on the 7th of September.
The health ministry will provide proper SOPs (Standard Operating Procedure) to all educational institutions to avoid the virus from spreading.
According to the Education minister, if the COVID-19 situation improves then the schools will reopen from the 15th of September.
Moreover, he added that the conference has been arranged to discuss issues related to education.
A survey showed that around 7-8 million children are getting education through the Telechool. This is an educational TV channel introduced by the PM to cope up with the academic losses the students have faced due to the closure of the educational institutions.
