In a measure towards the improvement of the tax system, the federal government has taken the decision of introducing a new tax drive throughout the nation, as per the reports of local media.
This announcement has been made by the Special Assistant to PM on Youth Affairs Usman Dar in a statement on Sunday.
Under this campaign, all the development projects would be named after the top taxpayers and they would also be inaugurating the development projects at the local level.
The drive would be operated in unison with the FBR and NADRA, and these institutions would identify the taxpayers at the village and street level.
In the initial phase, the drive would be commenced from Sialkot and would be extended to the other parts of the nation in the days to come.
As per a statement of Usman Dar this campaign is directed at respecting the leading taxpayers, adding that the step would further be improving the tax culture in the nation.
Back in the month of January, the Large Taxpayer Unit (LTU) of FBR is Karachi had launched its half yearly-performance report that indicated the growth in revenue collection up to 15 per cent in comparison to the last year.
The unit gathered Rs.160 billion against Rs.144 billion for the corresponding month of 2019. As per the statistics, LTU collected extra revenue up to Rs.90 billion between July-December 2019.
