The government of Punjab has given its approval to appoint teachers for the Rawalpindi district. This would be made part of the 2,582 teachers who would be appointed for the complete division.
Out of these, 650 teachers would be hired for the posts in Attock, 441 for the Jhelum district and 221 for Chakwal.
The Punjab government has got the intentions of hiring nearly 40,000 teachers for all the 36 districts of Punjab. Of these, most teachers would be hired for the Lahore division, where 2,225 teachers would be appointed. But, the important thing to mention is that these teachers would be hired on a contract basis.
The recruited teachers would be first required to clear the tests organised by the National Testing Service (NTS) by scoring a minimum of 60pc of marks.
The hiring is expected to be completed before the start of the new academic year.
The Punjab SES Teachers Association has given a 10-ponit Charter of Demand, asking for a solution of their genuine problems.
Furthermore, the issue of furniture shortage in government schools should also be taken into consideration. Students should be given the pick and drop services, for this purpose buses should also be provided to the schools.
For facilitating the teachers, they have asked for a teacher housing society while the time scale structures should also be established for the teachers.
They have also put forwarded the demand of entirely ending the contract system and said that the teachers should be appointed on a permanent basis.
Moreover, demand for science and computer labs in the school was also presented having separate teachers who are good in their particular subjects.
