Govt. launches WhatsApp Coronavirus Helpline

A coronavirus helpline for WhatsApp has been launched by the government of Pakistan. The aim of the helpline is to help people and provide them with reliable resources to fight misinformation and keep them up to date during this difficult time.

Contact the health ministry on +923001111166 number on WhatsApp and reach out to the relevant people who can guide you on the latest statistics of the outbreak and give you awareness. Along with this you can get timely updates, find a nearby lab to get tested.

All you have to do is save the number as a contact on your phone. Then on WhatsApp send Hi to the number. Then the chatbot will reply with a prompt requesting you to choose a language. Then a set of frequently asked questions will be presented. The question the user will choose, depending on that they will be sent a video, text or link with verified info.

There are seven languages in which the chatbot would be able to provide info to the users i.e. English, Urdu, Punjabi, Pushto, Sindhi, Balochi, and Kashmiri.

The questions answered will be regarding coronavirus, its symptoms, protections against it, assessing your risk, finding you nearby labs, etc.

Also, this service would have a local dashboard of confirmed coronavirus cases across Pakistan. The National Institute of Health has provided these figures, thus, they can be considered reliable.
