A list of public and optional holidays have been issued by the federal government for the Calendar Year 2020.
According to a notification by the Ministry of Interior, there will be 10 public holidays in 2020.
These holidays will be on Kashmir Day on 5th Feb, Pakistan Day on 23rd March, Labor Day on 1st May, Eid al Fitr predicted from 23rd to 26th May, Eid al Adha likely from 30th July to 3rd August, Independence Day on 14th August, Ashura likely on 28th to 29th August, Eid Miladun Nabi likely on 28th to 29th Oct, and Quaid-e-Azam Day/Christmas on 25th December and the day after Christmas on December 26th.
It is important to mention here that these are 10 occasions of holidays as Eid ul Fitr and Eid ul Fitr holidays are counted as one each. Back in 2019, the federal government made the announcement of a total of 14 total public holidays for 2019.

Bank holidays were also issued by the government that will be on 1st January and April 24th as corresponding with 1st Ramazan and July 1.
Other than this the government has announced 23 optional holidays. Also, it is important to mention here that for the first time the government announced a holiday on the birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak.
The optional holidays include New Year’s Day on 1st Jan, Basant Panchami on 29th Jan, Holi on 9th March, Dulhandi on 10th March, March Equinox on 20th March, Shab e Meraj on 22nd March, Shab e Barat on 8th April, Good Friday on 10th April, Easter Monday on 13th April, Ridvan on 20th April, Budha Purnima on 7th May, Janmashtami on 12th August, Nauroz on 17th August, and others.
