The government has got the intentions of setting up IT Special Economic Zones (SEZ) in the federal capital. The government is thinking on this line for giving business and employment opportunities to the skilled workers.
The Secretary Board of Investment (BOI)—Sardar Ahmed Nawaz Sukhera said that there are 2 places suggested for the IT Zone in Islamabad and the government has not yet decided that where the IT parks would be built.
For finalizing the location, the National Industrial Parks (NIP) which is a development and management company is assigned the task of developing the planned Information Technology park in the capital city.
He said that it is the priority of government to establish the SEZs in the federal capital besides 3 other cities including Faisalabad, Hattar (Haripur) and Rashakai (Nowshera).
The objective behind these IT zones is to provide ease and facilities to the local and international investors and to generate more revenue. He also informed that the government is anticipating major investment in the coming 5 years for the Agriculture, Automobile and Energy division.
The secretary BOI further said that they expect more investment from 5 nations which are Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, China, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates for boosting the business and economy of the nation. He added that the government would have preference to start the business to business relations for linking the local business community with the foreign investors for the joint ventures (JVs).
Sardar Sukhera said that Malaysia would give the opportunity of a way to the potential market of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN).
He informed that Pakistan is working to improve its business ranking from number 136 to under 100 in the years to come for increasing the foreign investment.
