In order to stop the spread of coronavirus, the government has decided to suspend all domestic flights till 11th of April except the flights between Islamabad, Skardu, and Gilgit, they will keep on flying as usual.
Abdul Sattar Khokar Aviation Division Spokesperson says that as per the government’s decision the suspension of all types of domestic flights including Chartered, Private aircraft, Non-Scheduled and scheduled, and General Aviation operations are extended till April 11. Only the cargo flights or special flights can be excused from restrictions.
Earlier the suspension was from 26th March till 2nd April which was applied due to the coronavirus outbreak. Flights between Islamabad, Gilgit and Skardu were the only ones that were exempted.
On the other hand, the government has allowed PIA to resume its international flight partially so that those citizens who got stuck in different countries due to the sudden outbreak of the coronavirus could return back.
One of the spokespeople from PIA said that the airlines will bring back a limited number of Pakistani travelers.
The national carrier will bring back citizens from the UK and Canada who were suppose to travel to Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi.
The flights will resume from Toronto on 3rd April and from the UK on the 4th of April.
All these repatriated flights will primarily land at the Islamabad airport told the spokesperson.
After these flights will be landed, each and every single passenger will be tested at the airport and then they will be sent to a hotel for 6 hours.
Those who will be tested positive with the virus will be sent to quarantine center and the ones tested negative will be allowed to go to their homes.
All precautionary steps will be taken by the Pakistan International Airlines to assure the safety of its crew members and as well as the passengers.
The Civil Aviation Authority gave a 21 point advisory to the airlines. The CAA urges to disinfect the plane before the boarding.
Each and every passenger should fill a mandatory health declaration form provided by the government. Everybody on the flight should use masks while traveling.
Cabin crew should supply hand sanitizers to the passengers and the meals provided should not last over 2 hours.
