On Monday, the IPEMC (Inter-provincial education ministers’ conference) made a decision to allow all universities and colleges to reopen from the 15th of September.
The meeting was held in Islamabad led by Shafqat Mahmood Federal Education Minister. All the provincial education ministers were present during the meeting.
In the meeting, the health officials explained the current status of COVID-19 in the country.
The meeting is going to whip out some recommendations about the reopening of the educational institutions and will forward them to the NCC (National Coordination Committee) for approval.
In today’s meeting, the officials mainly focused on finalizing a short syllabus for this academic year, SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for all educational institutions, and 2021 examinations. They also are going to discuss the matter of a uniform curriculum.
Earlier on the 4th of September, Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood announced that the government is planning on reopening educational institutions in some phases starting from higher secondary classes to the middle and later on the primary classes.
While talking in a press conference he said that the final decision will come out on September 7th. Moreover, the students have already suffered a lot due to the pandemic and also we have received a lot of suggestions to reopen the institutions as the country is now noticing a decline in the COVID-19 cases.
