According to Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Hafiz-Ur-Rehman, the provincial government will set up an industrial zone in Gilgit-Baltistan, he said this on Monday while talking to Radia Pakistan.
The chief minister has informed that the project has been approved and the survey is in progress, it is likely to be started as soon as possible. He said, Rs.300 million has been set aside for the project. The project is focused on promoting cottage industry and food processing units in the area.
This project is just a little part of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the CPEC projects would have a possitve impact on the country in terms of developing areas that were never considered before, Gilgit-Baltistan would also become an investment heaven because of ongoing CPEC project and its supporting projects.
A few weeks ago, KPK government has announced to open a CPEC IT park in Peshawar a couple of weeks ago, the government assured that the project will start soon; $14 million would be invested on this project. It will promote information technology in the country and provide helping hand to CPEC projects and all its related projects for further development.
Infrastructure development is of utmost importance in CPEC therefore, there is wide range of CPEC projects that are under consideration focusing on infrastructure development. Foreign companies are also interested to set their feet in Pakistan in order to gain long-term benefits from the mega CPEC project.
