A directive has been issued by the Prime Minister Imran Khan to setup National Tourism Coordination Board to promote tourism in Pakistan. 25-member board will be formulated aiming to attract local and international tourists.
Prime Minister chaired a meeting in which this decision was taken. The meeting was attended by different Tourism Task Force members including Chaudhry Fawad Hussain the Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Dr. Fehmida Mirza Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination, and Special Assistant to Prime Minister Iftikhar Durrani, and Zulfi Bukhari.
Government officials, private sector officials, tourists, federal and provincial ministers will be part of the 25 member National Tourism Coordination Board. Thus members from different industries will be incorporated.
The Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) will be reorganized by the board. Rs 200 billion worth properties will be transferred to the provinces. Furthermore PTDC will also be the National Tourism Coordination Board’s secretariat.
Also religious, adventure, cultural, historical & archaeological, trans-Himalayan jeep rally, infrastructure and amenities at Tourist Spots, Policy Reforms and Investment and Tourism Branding teams will be formulated to boost tourism in the country and make tourism a booming market. The 25-member board will also form laws regarding the tourism industry.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has stressed on highlighting the beautiful spots of Pakistan, beaches, mountains, historical heritage, etc.
