Fawad Hussain Chaudhry—the Federal Minister for Science and Technology announced that the PTI-led federal government is set to award scholarships worth Rs 12 billion during the period of the current year.
Fawad Chaudhry, while addressing a ceremony at the Global Development Workshop, organized by the UK-Pakistan Science Innovation Global Network, said that more than 70 experts and scientists have arrived in the country to participate in the workshop.
The minister said that the government of Pakistan had partnered with the United Kingdom in the field of research. Chaudhry further told the participants of the workshop that interaction of these experts scientists came from around the world with the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Arif Alvi has also been arranged on March 10.
The minister further revealed that Pakistan has prepared a cheaper kit to detect the presence of the coronavirus in the human body, making it conveniently affordable to detect devastating SARS-like virus in the country.
On the other hand, the minister said in his statement to media that the government has made a 600 percent surge in its budget allocations for the science and technology, whereas, the ministry has set a target of its increase of up to 1300 percent.
