For helping the government to implement its steps targeted at dealing with climate change and its effects, the staff at the German Embassy in Islamabad distributed cloth bags among the city residents as an alternative to plastic bags.
The cloth bags were distributed as a replacement to the polythene bags after the imposition of ban on the use of plastic bags in the capital city.
On Tuesday the official Twitter account of the German Embassy posted many pictures of the staff being welcomed by the citizens at the various city locations.
The pictures from bazaars, schools and parking lots displayed citizens getting the cloth bags from the staff of the German embassy.
The tweet posted by the German Embassy read that following the ban of plastic bags in the federal capital, they are distributing cloth bags today at a Government school, Blue Area and at the Aabpara market. It further read that it is important to increase awareness among people for avoiding the use of plastic for the betterment of the environment. It added that reuse is the only solution.
The Islamabad administration had recently banned plastic bags, plastic wrappers and plastic bottles from carrying food items as part of the Clean and Green Pakistan campaign.
