Gas Supply Discontinued to 3 Industrial Zones of Karachi

Gas supply to 3 Industrial zones of Karachi has been discontinued for the last 4 days, as per the reports of local media on Tuesday.

The major-export oriented factories operated by the captive power plants have been shut down owing to an unanticipated gas load shedding in the city, which has severely affected the supplies to the industries as well as to the domestic consumers.

As per a spokesman of the gas utility Sui Southern Gas, the supplies have been discontinued owing to the technical faults at gas fields.

As the winter season has started, the gas crises have increased tremendously in many parts of the city, causing problems for the domestic users as well as for the industrial units.

In the meantime, the spokesperson of the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) the gas pressure has decreased owing to technical malfunctions in the fields. He further added that efforts are underway to resume supply at its full potential.

It is relevant to mention here that the Petroleum Minister on the 4th of December promised that people would not face any gas load-shedding during the winter season.

He also said that gas is being supplied to the industry without any interruptions and the subsidy would eb given on bills from the 16thof October until June 2019.

The minister also announced that subsidy would also be given to the fertiliser industry until March of 2019.
