The routes leading to National Stadium have been shut for traffic as a full-dress rehearsal for the Pakistan Super League 3 final is underway in Karachi today. International security consultants reached Karachi yesterday for checking the security arrangements and then compiling a report for the Federation of International Cricketers’ Association.
Sohail Anwar Siyal—the Sindh Home Minister while speaking to the media at the National Stadium where he was present for inspection said that it is hoped that the international security consultants may get satisfied with the made arrangements, however, if they would be having any suggestions then those too would be implemented.
The Home Minister said that the Sindh government would ensure that foolproof security is provided to the teams that would be playing the PSL matches.
A high-level meeting also took place between the security officials and the international consultants where the security officials provided the details relating the security arrangement to the later that have been made so far.
The routes leading to the match site that is the National Stadium from Dalmia, Karsaz, Civic Centre and New Town have been closed for the traffic, while a greater number of Rangers and police officials have been posted in and around the stadium.
Additionally, fire brigade and ambulances were also deployed on standby and a bomb disposal squad been checking all the automobiles going inside the stadium.
ICC tasked security consultants, FICA and many more international cricket boards reached Karachi to review the security arrangements of the city for the proposed final match of the event.
Craig Dotson—an international security consultant would be witnessing the entire full-dress rehearsal that is to be held today in the National Stadium of Karachi (NSK).
DIG East Sultan Khawaja informed that the security officials have been in continuous coordination for the full-dress rehearsal and a meeting was also conducted by the Sindh Chief Minister attended by the high officials of the Law Enforcement Agencies.
He mentioned that the rehearsal on Sunday would be a four to six-hour-long affair in which all aspects of the security would be shown to the consultants.
He further requested the Karachiites for cooperation during the practice on Sunday.
He added that we must prove it to the everyone that the people of Karachi are peace-loving and law-abiding citizens who have all the right to watch cricket matches.
Khawaja also mentioned that the people of Karachi would be told about the alternate traffic routes by the Sindh Police radio station.
