The export of fruits and vegetables from the nation during the first quarter of the present financial year has grown by 49.34 per cent and 19.17 per cent in comparison to that of the last year during the same period.
During the time frame from July to September 2018, nearly 130,747 metric tons of fruits costing $101.664 million, were exported in comparison to last year’s export of 83,073 metric tons, costing $86.210 million, as per the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
In the meantime, 132,546 metric tons of vegetables, costing $32.826 million were exported as against the exports of 81,413 metric tons, costing $27.546 million, during the same time frame of last year.

During the period under consideration, the food group exports from the nation increased by 16.93 per cent as compared to the exports of the same period of last year. Food items costing $885.774 million were exported against $740.448 million in the same period of last year.
On a monthly basis, the exports of food group surged by 31.25 per cent in the month of September 2018, in comparison to the same month in 2017.
The food items costing $297.231 million were exported in September in comparison to the $228.456 million in the same month of last year.
In the first quarter of the present fiscal year, the nation got $46.772 million by exporting nearly 15,30 metric tons of meat and meat products, in comparison to the earnings of last year which were $44.719 million by exporting 12,226 metric tons.
On the contrary, the first quarter of the present fiscal year, food group imports in the country decreased by 10.31 per cent and attained at $1.454 billion in comparison to the imports of $1.621 billion in the same span of last year.
