France to Give A Soft Loan of €130million for BRT Project of Peshawar

France would be giving a soft loan of €130million for the Bus Rapid Transit Corridor Project or in simple words BRT Project of Peshawar.

Noor Ahmed—the secretary of Economic Affairs Division, Jacky Amprou—the Country Director of the French Agency for the Development and Marc Barety—the Ambassador of France inked a deal in this connection in the federal capital on Tuesday.

The project would be providing safe, well integrated and efficient mass transit system for the improvement of energy efficiency and the air quality via the reduction of Green House Gas emissions.

The project would be making contributions to the strategy of the government of Pakistan in urban services and economic progress and development.

The BRT project in Peshawar was inaugurated back in the month of October 2017 by the CM of KPK—Parvez Khattak. The project was launched for providing the best mode of commute to the people and it was claimed at that time that the project would be completed in the time span of 6 months.

The project experienced delays and it was informed that a deadline has been given for the project completion which is of the end of 2018.

The present finance minister of KP—Abdur Rauf Khan when was asked about the project completion responded that the project is complex and have been made so by the project designers and executors. He further added that it would be quick if they would be able to complete the project by December 2018.
