A meeting was held on Tuesday regarding simplifying the procedure of getting loans for Small and Medium Enterprises sponsored by the State Bank of Pakistan at the Regional Office of Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) in Peshawar.
Addressing the meeting vice president SAARC Chamber, Haji Ghulam Hussain told that the expansion of the system and business was our major objective. The FPCCI would play its vital role in the provision of loans on easy terms to the business community.
For the welfare of the business community and promotion of business activities in Pakistan especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said every needed step would be taken. The FPCCI would play the role of a bridge between the business community and banks and raise voice at every forum for addressing issues being faced by the business community.
In merged districts, he said the process of obtaining loans from banks would also be made easy for the business community and the parliament would be approached to make necessary enactment in this regard.
The State Bank and other commercial banks should make the process of obtaining business loans easy by keeping in view the circumstances prevailing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he added. He called upon the business community to enhance their contacts with banks through writing meaningful demand letters to the banks.
Addressing the meeting Coordinator FPCCI, Sartaj Ahmed Khan said a help desk would be established at the regional office of FPCCI for the business community of merged districts to guide them in obtaining business loans from banks. Besides, he said the FPCCI would offer its services for bringing closer the business community and bank management.
He said due to the non-availability of revenue records in the merged district the provincial government and the Chief Secretary would be contacted to arrange a guarantee for obtaining loans for the businessmen of merged districts.
He demanded that commercial banks on the district level should issue directives to bank managers to extend complete cooperation to the business community of newly established economic zones and industrial estates in obtaining loans.
He further demanded that banks should introduce a special package for the promotion of tourism, minerals, hydel, and agriculture businesses so that the province could prosper in the shortest possible time.
On the occasion, Minhaj Bacha, Majeed Khan. Malik Muhammad Hanif and Muhammad Sabir presented suggestions for easing the process of loan obtaining for mineral, mine, and marble industries. Talking at the meeting, Deputy Chief Manager, State Bank, Abid Hussain, and Assistant Chief Manager, Salman Jameel said the State Bank would provide every possible help to the business community in getting loans from all available banks of Pakistan. If the businesses are facing problems in getting loans, the business can contact their direct and state bank to address the issue as soon as possible.
