Former finance minister approaches IHC for protective bail in LNG scam

Miftah Ismail, former Federal Minister for Finance and leader of PML-N on Monday approached the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to get the protective bail.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has initiated an inquiry against the leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in a scandal related to liquefied petroleum gas (LNG) terminal.

The Chairman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and PTI-led federal government have been made respondent in the plea filed by the former minister in the high court.

Former finance minister, in his plea, said that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is carrying out an alleged baseless inquiry against him as he (Miftah Ismail) has nothing to do with the scam.

He pleaded the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to grant him protective bail.

Earlier, the anti-corruption watchdog had requested the interior ministry to put the name Miftah Ismail on the Exit Control List (ECL).
