The government has made the claims that the recent price-hikes would start decreasing during the present month and that inflation is anticipated to decrease significantly. This was announced during a review meeting on the control of food inflation chaired by Asad Umar, the Planning, Development and Special Initiatives minister.
A series of steps are being taken for handling the crisis of the surging prices of food commodities. The meeting was told that the government has taken all possible measures for reducing the food prices.

The federal minister for Planning has asked for strengthening the monitoring system of 18 essential food item which includes sugar, wheat, ghee/oil, flour, onions, potatoes and pulses in all the provinces of the country.
He said that PM Khan’s top priority is to offer essential items to the people at reasonable rates. As per the directives of PM Khan, in the next cabinet meeting, the PM Khan would be given further suggestions for curbing the prices of the commodities.
Asad Umar has given the directives to the officials to maintain a regular supply of wheat from the stocks of the public sector. Umar Lodhi, the federal minister has asked the MD of Utility Stores, to check up on the prices of pulses. He also asked the Ministry of Food to form strategies for increasing the local production of food products. He also asked to keep a close watch on the onion and potato trade situations.
