The Fitrana rate for this year has been fixed at Rs.100 per head, as informed by the Chairman of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee—Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman.
As per a statement, he said that as per the market price of 2.25kilograms of flour, the amount of Fitrana calculated for this year is Rs.100 per head.
The Muslims who want to pay the Fitrana equal to the price of dates, cheese, raisins and barley should pay Rs. 1,600, Rs.2,940, Rs.1,920 and Rs.400 per person, respectively.
Sadqa-e-Fitr or Fitrana is paid by Muslims who have got extra food than their needs. It is paid before Eid. The head of the house has to pay Fitrana for his dependents like wife, children, dependent relatives or servants.
Mufti Muneeb also suggested people, to pay the amount of Fitrana to the poor before Eid-ul-Fitr so that they could also celebrate the festival.
The most deserving people to receive the amount of Fitrana are close relatives than neighbours and then the poor.
Mufti Muneeb said that the real spirit of Fitr and Fidya is two-real time meal for a poor person, so it is advisable to pay the meal cost of a hotel. But the ones who are wealthier should try paying extra to extend assistance to the poor in this time when the inflation rates are so high.
