The first draft of the uniform national curriculum in the country has been prepared and a copy has been sent to the National Curriculum Council.
It was reported a few months ago that the government is working on introducing a uniform national curriculum across Pakistan and there has been a long consultation between the provinces and the concerned authorities for the preparation of a uniform national curriculum.
According to the statement, provincial ministers and other officials presented their suggestions and comments. Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood said that there is no ambiguity on the issue of language in the uniform national curriculum, teachers will teach in the language in which they understand.
He said that a uniform national curriculum is very close to the hearts of all of us and it will help in eradicating the class education system. Shafqat Mahmood also said that the provinces could introduce additional materials but care should be taken not to impose an additional burden on the children. Shafqat Mehmood further said that the main objective of a uniform education system is to eliminate injustices in the pursuit of education and to close the class gap in the field of education. Participants suggested that the government develop model textbooks that are the same for all.
